Procedures and operations performed at Mt. Sinai Hospital are either
- Ambulatory – you will go home the same day – or
- DAS – you will be admitted to the hospital after surgery
The decision as to whether you will be admitted or discharged is made based on many criteria, including the duration or complexity of the surgery, the need for postoperative monitoring, and the rules and regulations of the insurance companies.
Either way, Mt. Sinai Hospital is a very busy place, so it is essential to show up AT LEAST 90 minutes before the scheduled surgery starting time. For latecomers, the hospital may act somewhat vindictively and “bump” your procedure while allowing later cases to go ahead of yours. This can make your day a very long one indeed!
